This Friday I'm heading to Iceland, I'm flying there to participate in an oceanographic cruise. An oceanographi cruise consists in filling a vessel with scientists that, by taking shifts, will work 24 hours the 7 days of the week to sample the ocean. The cruise belongs to the OSNAP PROJECT(http://www.o-snap.org). OSNAP studies the subpolar gyre. In this cruise we will collect moorings that have been on the ocean for a year, and we will extract their measurements of temperature and salinity , in aditttion we will also deploy new moorings. Therefore it will take us a month to go from Iceland to St Johns (Canada). The ship I'm going in is the new RV Neil Armstrong. Furthermore we will coincide in Iceland with the Spanish research vessel Sarmiento de Gamboa that will be just finishing the OVIDE section(http://www.gciencia.com/seccion/bitacoras/sarmiento-gamboa/).
