A little about meI'm originally from the Canary Islands. I grew up by the sea and I have been sailing since I was nine years old. This awakened my interest in oceanography and meteorology.
I did my Ph.D. in Physical Oceanography at the Instituto de Oceanografía y Cambio Global (IOCAG) of the University of Las Palmas de Palmas de Gran Canaria. During this time I carried three three-months research stays at the: Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI), Scripps Institution of Oceanography (SIO), and National Oceanography Centre (NOC,Southaptom). After my Ph.D., I worked three years as a postdoctoral Investigator at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) and two and half years as a researcher at the Marine and Freshwater Research Institute of Iceland (Hafránsóknastofnun). Currently, I'm back to the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) where I'm a tenured researcher and teacher, and I'm part of the Research units Unidad Asociada Océano y Clima (UOC) and the Instituto de Oceanografía y Cambio Global (IOCAG) |
Research Interests:
Ocean circulation and dynamics in a changing climate; structure, dynamics and variability of boundary currents, inter-gyre/basin exchanges, Meridional Overturning Circulation, observational techniques (traditional observations, autonomous new platforms, reanalysis and satellite data), complementing observations with models.
